Abstract
Since the work of Carroll and Hungate (1955) and McNeill el al. (1954, 1955) it has been reasonably well established that methane synthesis in the rumen chiefly occurs through reduction of CO2. Oppermann el al. (1957) and SMITH el al. (1958) isolated bacteria from the rumen which perform the following reaction :This publication has 9 references indexed in Scilit:
