Abstract
Dinoflagellate cysts are abundant in modern and Late Quaternary sediments from the southeastern Australian continental shelf and slope. Modern shelf sediments are characterized by abundant Protoperidinium spp., while those from the outer shelf and slope contain significant numbers of Impagidinium and Nematosphaeropsis species. Abundance of the latter taxa provides a useful signature for interpreting sea‐level change within Late Quaternary sequences. Keywords
