Stenosis of the Celiac Artery

Abstract
The angiographic and clinical findings in 17 cases of celiac stenosis are presented. The flow patterns at selective arteriography as well as the effects of anomalous arteries and the presence of cirrhosis are elucidated. Finally, the problems associated with attempting to relate the patient''s symptoms to the stenosis are discussed. It is the authors'' impression that celiac stenosis alone causes no symptoms. When other diseases exist, which either increase the demand for or further compromise intestinal blood flow, however, the symptoms of intestinal vascular insufficiency may appear.
