Abstract
Mössbauer spectra of ferric ammonium alum and hydrated ferric nitrate taken at room temperature in various applied fields up to 50 kOe are presented. A distinctive feature of these spectra is a division into a broad and a sharp component at higher fields. A qualitative interpretation of this and other features of the spectra in terms of atomic‐spin relaxation is given. It will be shown that Mössbauer spectroscopy can be expected to yield information not obtainable from other types of measurements. This publication has 6 references indexed in Scilit:
