Effects of Collisions on Temporal Plasma Wave Echoes

Abstract
Collisional effects on temporal plasma wave echo are examined on the basis of simple collision models, namely the relaxation term model and the Fokker-Planck type collision model. It is found that, besides the term varying as τ3, which is predicted by Su and Oberman, the Fokker-Planck type collision model also gives rise to a damping term varying as τ, where τ is the time interval between the two excitation pulses. The condition of observing the plasma wave echoes is γLτ> 1 ≫βτ, where γL is the imaginary part of the Landau zero point of the dielectric function and β the effective collision frequency. Under this condition, it is confirmed that the collisional damping of the plasma wave echoes varies as τ3.
