Abstract
In estimates of coral reef calcification based on alkalinity anomalies, interference from changes in the concentration of ions such as nitrate, ammonium, and sulfate typically is likely to cause errors of <5%. In the particular case of the open lagoon, the error from sulfate reduction could be as high as 15%.Keywords
