Germ Cell Migration in Rats Carrying Mutant Genes Affecting Fertility

Abstract
Summary Selective staining was used to determine whether a mutant sex-limited dominant character manifested by sterility in male rats is reflected in the number of primordial germ cells in animals so affected. The number of primordial germ cells in 23.94% of 11-day rat embryos from mothers capable of producing sterile males falls below the least number of such cells found in 11 day embryos from normal mothers.
