ABNORMAL RENAL TUBULAR BACK-DIFFUSION FOLLOWING ANURIA

Abstract
Marked reduction in renal function was observed early in the postanuric stage in a patient with sulfathiazole intoxication. The filtration rate returned fairly rapidly to normal. Tubular excretory capacity, however, was impaired for a longer period of time, but eventually returned to normal. A negative value for TmpAH indicating abnormal tubular back-diffusion of PAH persisted for approx. 4 wks. from the onset of anuria.
