Experiences with Conversion to Système International Units

Abstract
In 1987 a family practitioner at the Upper Connecticut Valley Hospital in Colebrook, New Hampshire, asked us when our laboratory was going to convert to Système international (SI) units. We responded that conversion could be done quickly if the medical staff was behind the effort. After a brief discussion of some of the advantages and disadvantages of SI units, the medical staff voted unanimously to request the laboratory to change over to SI units as soon as possible.
