Abstract
Simple techniques are described whereby thousands of 1st-instar Cyclocephala larvae of known age and uniform vitality may be obtained for experimental purposes. A description is given of the portable omnidirectional light traps used in collecting the adult beetles. Female beetles were provided with muck soil as an oviposition substrate. Eggs were removed from the soil shortly after being laid and incubated on moist filter papers within petri dishes. The papers were kept moist by mounting each of them on a layer of 1% agar in the bottom of each dish. A description is given of the way in which batches of eggs were incubated at various temperatures in order to stagger their development. Young larvae were transferred from the petri dishes to cans containing muck soil as food. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
