Abstract
The use of Sira-Beck Optical Transfer Function (OTF) equipment for testing sighting instruments used in armoured fighting vehicles is described and its suitability for this work considered. From research work at MVEE a technique for testing at a single chosen spatial frequency at all azimuths has been developed. Use of the resulting simplified OTF equipment provides concise criteria for specification and quality control purposes. Speed and ease of use together with a minimum of recorded data are valuable features. Several additional aspects of the work and projected further studies are also described.
