Abstract
Clearing factor produced in vivo by the admn. of heparin was found to be inactive in vitro in the absence of serum albumin. Added albumin restored activity. Since fatty acids were found to inhibit clearing, it is postulated that the role of albumin is to bind and thereby remove fatty acids evolved as fat is hydrolyzed. Keywords
