Abstract
Approximate formulas are given for calculating the matrix elements of the angular momentum operator of a symmetric top undergoing hindered rotation on an asymmetric molecule. These can then be used to calculate the effect of torsion on over‐all rotation in microwave rotational spectra using the method of Wilson, Lin, and Lide.Keywords
