Abstract
The transient temperature rise of a buried cable system may be determined by calculating that of the cable system assuming no temperature rise in the earth and adding to it a suitably formulated effective earth transient. Several families of curves developed on a digital computer are presented, one for each basic type of cable system, from which the applicable effective earth transient for a particular installation may be determined. Keywords
