On the Kinetics of the Crystal Phosphor Luminescence

Abstract
On the basis of the diffusion equation for the motion of free charges, a monomolecular recombination probability is calculated for electron‐hole pairs. The calculation includes short‐time luminescence arising from recombination prior to the localization of the electronhole pair and extended luminescence due to recombination after localization. A qualitative discussion is given of the case in which a particular photon creates more than one electronhole pair.
