Abstract
Preview Diabetic patients must take an active role in managing their disease, and they need adequate information and proper training to do this. Patient education is considered a vital component of quality healthcare at the International Diabetes Center, Minneapolis, where thousands of diabetics and their families have received instruction in diabetes management. In the following article, Dr Etzwiler describes the Center's highly successful diabetes education programs, which have become a model for other institutions. Keywords
