Abstract
A laser flowmeter is described employing cylindrical lenses to spread and collimate the beam, and a mask containing two square apertures as a beam splitter. A fringe pattern is produced at the measuring point which can be rotated relative to the flow to give estimates of Reynolds stresses. It is shown that the magnitude of ambiguities, due to the finite number of fringes with which measurements are made, can be predicted from simple theoretical considerationsKeywords
