Abstract
Pyroelectiic detectors based on the polymer film polyvinylidene fluoride should be recognized as attractive choices for applications where a high detectivity coupled with a broad spectral response and a large area are required. Devices with a 1 cm2 area typically have a detectivity of 109 f1/2 cm Hz1/2/W where f is the frequency in Hz. Fabrication may be directly from commercially available film or with some additional processing. Several instruments incorporating these detectors have been developed to solve certain radiometric measurement problems. Keywords
