Abstract
The fatty plaques of human and rabbit atherosclerosis are of approx. the same compositions, excepting the phosphatides, as the plasma lipids. The difference in susceptibility of Herbivora and Carnivora to cholesterol atherosclerosis is explained as possibly being due to differences in the ability of the liver to withhold lipids from the circulation. Lipemia, hypertension, and the receptivity of the vessel wall for lipids are 3 factors known to influence the production of atherosclerosis in man and animals. Keywords
