Abstract
MEDFIELD State Hospital, in 1961, had a total patient population of approximately 1,200. Approximately 25% of the population was diagnosed as schizophrenic, was 60 years of age or younger, and had been hospitalized for at least one year on their current admission. A rehabilitation program began at the hospital as of Sept 1, 19615; this program was designed to treat a sample of this schizophrenic population. This paper reports the results of that rehabilitation program after an experimental period of 30 months, ending March 1, 1964.
