Abstract
In an unselected series of Danish twins the authors have analysed the occurrence of malignant growths. Only pairs in which the unaffected partner had survived the age of 40 years were included in the present analysis. The rate of concordance as regards malignant growths in general was found to be higher in the monozygotic than in the dizygotic pairs, but the difference is not significant. The same applies to concordance as regards the site of the neoplasm. It is concluded that the present material shows genetic factors to be of only limited importance in the development of malignant growths. Keywords
