Abstract
In three patients with diabetes, gallbladders were enlarged three to nine times normal size. In a series of patients with diabetes, four (16%) of the 25 studied had enlarged gallbladders, while no examples of this could be demonstrated in the 50 control patients. No correlation was demonstrated between cholecystomegaly and other manifestations of diabetes, severity of diabetes, or mode of therapy. The condition resembles cholecystomegaly induced by vagotomy, but other mechanisms remain to be excluded. At the present time, neither medical nor surgical therapy for this condition appears warranted. Keywords
