Abstract
The electron paramagnetic resonance spectrum of Gd3+ in SmCl3.6H2O with 1/100 dilution of Gd/Sm ions, has been studied with an X-band spectrometer at 295K, 77K, and 1.88K, and with a K-band (frequency approximately 35 GHz) spectrometer at 295K and 77K. The low-temperature data was used to determine the signs of parameters and values for the g tensor and the zero-field splitting parameter b20 were obtained. From the angular dependence of the data in the ZX plane, the angle chi 0, which the Z axis makes with the a vector of the unit cell, was determined to be 62.25+or-0.25 degrees .Keywords
