Abstract
A patient with systemic lupus erythematosus, diabetes mellitus, and Arizona arthritis is described. After having received glucocorticoid therapy for approximately 1 year, Arizona 7:1,7,8 was cultured from her urine. Three months later she developed severe septic arthritis due to the same serotype of Arizona. Treatment with various antibiotics finally controlled the infection, and after 2 months observation, there has been no recurrence of the infection. Tube dilution antibiotic sensitivites are presented, and pertinent literature on human infection due to Arizona has been reviewed. This publication has 4 references indexed in Scilit:
