Abstract
A patient with systemic lupus erythematosus, diabetes mellitus, and Arizona arthritis is described. After having received glucocorticoid therapy for approximately 1 year, Arizona 7:1,7,8 was cultured from her urine. Three months later she developed severe septic arthritis due to the same serotype of Arizona. Treatment with various antibiotics finally controlled the infection, and after 2 months observation, there has been no recurrence of the infection. Tube dilution antibiotic sensitivites are presented, and pertinent literature on human infection due to Arizona has been reviewed.
