Abstract
The meaningful application of the biopsychosocial model in psychiatry requires explicit attention to the relational or interpersonal level of functioning. Family-oriented researchers and clinicians recommend that, despite pressures for early publication of DSM-IV, the time has come to give a definitive place to relational syndromes in psychiatric nosology.Keywords
