Abstract
This paper provides a discussion and synthesis of selections from three literatures that are concerned with the body, culture, and society. Work in the sociology of the body, informed by feminist poststructuralism, has important connections to themes and issues in the sociology of sport. Specific topics considered are the body, disciphry practices, and domination; gender, sport, and power; and the structural bases of disciplinary power. Keywords
