Abstract
Tiron (4,5-dihydroxybenzene-1,3-disulfonic acid, disodium salt) has been used as a spin trap to detect superoxide radicals produced by the rat heart mitochondria. In the presence of the oxidative phosphorylation uncoupler carbonyl cyanide (3-chlorophenyl)-hydrasone the superoxide production rate increases.
