STUDIES ON THE TOTAL BILE

Abstract
In dogs fed the green bile or the liver tissue of herbivora, the bile later secreted frequently becomes green, changing from the previous yellow-brown. When they are fed sheep bile that contains cholohematin, their bile comes to contain this pigment. When they are fed dog bile in quantity a well marked increase in the output of bilirubin by the liver frequently follows. Taken together, these facts indicate the existence of an enterohepatic circulation of bile pigment.
