Abstract
The density-matrix approach due to March and his collaborators is used to obtain the electronic density of states of liquid metals. A model potential is used for liquid aluminum, and the density of states is calculated for both completely random and correlated systems. Results are compared with previous calculations, and nearly-free-electron-like behavior is found for liquid aluminum. Keywords
