Abstract
Synopsis A non-linear finite-element technique incorporating a constitutive model of concrete behaviour has been used to analyse plain concrete structural forms under concentrations of load induced by a wide range of boundary conditions. The influence of boundary conditions upon strength, deformation and fracture processes has been investigated and the most critical boundary conditions are identified. The predicted behaviour is found to be in close agreement with experimental values when the boundary conditions assumed for the analysis simulate closely those imposed by the testing techniques. Keywords
