Abstract
PZT ceramics are presented which, like PbNb206, have very low mechanical Q values and therefore are suitable for wideband ultrasonic transducers. Compared with PbNb206 they afford the advantage that they are five times more efficient. The high internal friction in these ceramics occurs in the region of the grain boundaries and is probably of a viscoelastic nature. Keywords
