Abstract
The biology and life history of Xyleborus ferrugineus (F.) were studied under natural and laboratory conditions in Costa Rica. Beetles attacked Theobroma cacao L. showing no obvious external symptoms of decline. Attack involved the entire diameter of the basal trunk and root collar. The invaded tissues deteriorated more slowly than the other portions of the trees and several generations of the insect usually were supported in each plant. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
