Abstract
Some rules of law can be restated in quantitative terms. Their quantitative restatement provides a precise understanding of their meaning, which cannot be obtained from their conventional verbal statement, and it permits predictions about their application that-without a reliance on their quantitative formulation—are precluded.Keywords
