Abstract
A new genus and species, Campyloxiphos dineti, is described from the harpacticoid Peresime abyssalis, collected in the Cape Basin off Namibia. It differs from all known genera in the possession of a sigmoid cephalic stylet and is assigned to the Deoterthridae on the basis of its larval characters. Deoterthron dentatum Bradford and Hewitt and Austrotantulus lincolni Boxshall are redescribed and it is concluded that the latter species should be placed in the genus Deoterthron Bradford and Hewitt. The significance of the pore pattern on the cephalic shield in tantulocaridans is emphasized. The isopod-infesting species D. harrisoni Boxshall and Lincoln, D. megacephala Lincoln and Boxshall and D. aselloticola Boxshall and Lincoln are removed from Deoterthron and placed in a separate genus Doryphallophora gen. nov. The latter genus is placed in the new family Doryphallophoridae on account of its cephalic pore pattern, presence of a rostrum, exopodal setation of thoracopods and the atypical male with spear-like copulatory stylet. The genus Onceroxenus Boxshall and Lincoln is removed from the Basipodellidae primarily because of the different pore pattern and its mode of trunk sac formation, and placed in a separate family Onceroxendiae fam. nov..Keywords
