Abstract
The personalities of 40 white married females between ages of 20 and 40, with allergic disorders were studied by means of the MMPI and Rorschach tests. Careful ratings of degree of skin reactivity to various allergenic substances shown by the subjects were obtained, as were obtained, as were diagnoses for each. Subjects were then classified into groups according to the strength of skin reactivity. Their MMPI profiles were compared. Significant mean groups and mean scale-by-group interaction differences were found. Various comparisons were made of the MMPI profiles, classified accordingly to diagnosis. These differences seemed due to chance. Rorschach results will be presented in the future. It appears unlikely that a "typical allergy personality pattern" exists, although there may be personality patterns typical of specified, carefully defined subgroups within the allergic population. In a number of areas there are clear psychological differences associated with the strength of reactivity to allergens. Keywords
