ÉTUDE DES EFFETS DU RATIONNEMENT ALIMENTAIRE DE LA POULE SUR SES PERFORMANCES DE PONTE, ET OBSERVATIONS SUR LES EFFETS D'UNE SUPPLÉMENTATION PAR LA BACITRACINE

Abstract
Laying hens of 2 commercial crosses were subjected either to ad lib or restricted feeding. Three different feed restriction schedules were applied from the beginning of the laying period. A constant daily amount of metabolizable energy was supplied to group 1 (300 kcal) and group 3 (320 kcal); in group 2, the allowance was progressively increased during the laying period from 300 kcal to 320 kcal. All the restricted animals laid less eggs than the ad lib fed ones. Feed restriction almost did not affect the weight of the eggs. Body development and fatness were reduced in restricted hens. The 2 commercial crosses reacted differently to the feed restriction according to their laying requirement before that for maintenance and for body development. Bacitracine supplementation (20 ppm) increased the egg mean weight, but scarcley changed the other performances. Its effect was independent of the type of crossing and mode of feeding.
