Abstract
Clinical social work has recently become a part of national peer review systems. The development of peer review — an aspect of quality assurance—and its implementation by the Civilian Health and Medical Program of the Uniformed Services (CHAMPUS) and private insurance carriers is discussed. The social work profession's participation in the process is described; in addition, courses designed to instruct social workers about dealing effectively with third-party payers are described. Keywords
