Abstract
The linear stability theory of resistive m0=1 internal kink modes is presented, including the effects of finite electron drift frequency, finite ion Larmor radius, and ion viscosity. Analytic and numerical computations are used to show that moderate values of the ion viscosity parameter are sufficient to stabilize the resistive internal kink mode. Keywords
