Subungual Melanoma 25-Year Review of Cases

Abstract
Thirty-four patients with subungual melanoma have been reported. The 5-year survival rate was 38.2%. It is concluded that subungual melanoma has the same prognosis as most other cutaneous sites. Results indicate that subungual melanoma should be treated by adequate amputation of the primary with regional node dissection. Major amputation of the extremity is indicated in patients with local clinically and histologically positive regional nodes.
