Abstract
A calculation of the characteristics of the Bragg scattering of near‐infrared laser light (1.15μ wavelength) from coherent spin waves in ytrrium iron garnet is presented. Previously available experimental data on Faraday rotation is used to determine the magneto‐optic coefficient. The calculation is then made by considering the spin wave as a source of a spatially varying index of refraction. The ratio of scattered power to incident power for a saturated spin‐wave beam of π‐mm2 cross section is calculated to be −63 dB at a spin‐wave frequency of approximately 1 GHz.This publication has 9 references indexed in Scilit:
