The thermochemistry of triphenoxyborane and the Lewis acidity of the boron atom

Abstract
The heat of formation of gaseous triphenoxyborane has been derived ΔH°f B(OPh)3(g)=–591·9 ± 1·9 kJ mol–1, and used to calculate the boron-oxygen mean bond dissociation energy D with combining macron]">(B–OPh)= 437·0 ± 14·0 kJ mol–1. This value is compared with values for other boron–oxygen systems.
