Abstract
A reconnaissance of Casa Grande National Monument, Arizona, in 1956 and 1957, revealed a heavy occupation during prehistoric times. For purposes of analysis the cultural remains were grouped into 30 sites. Examination of the surface pottery shows that a few of the sites were occupied as early as the beginning of the Colonial period, but most were occupied largely during the Classic period. Some of the sites had been previously excavated, and the information derived from those sites is briefly reviewed. Gaps in our knowledge of Hohokam archaeology are pointed out, and several sites recommended for excavation.
