Discussion about the inducing effects of lightning in an experimental power distribution line in Mexico

Abstract
With the idea of improving the understanding of the inducing mechanism between lightning electromagnetic fields and the voltage produced in an overhead line lying over ground of finite conductivity, field measurements were carried out in Mexico in 1984. Measurements included the voltage at one end of an experimental line and the corresponding electric field produced by close lightning. The experimental set-up result of voltage measured when the line was terminated at both ends in its characteristic impedance are reported. The vertical electrical field measurements are also given. Comparisons with calculations that account for the horizontal electric field along the line are presented.
