Abstract
The meiotic prophase is an important stage in pollen development during which cytomictic channels and the callosic wall are formed; changes in the tapetum and microspore mother cells cytoplasm occur, the microspore mother cells become round whilst numerous radially arranged microtubules appear. The meaning of these findings, especially cytomictic channels and the formation of microtubules is discussed. Keywords
