Abstract
The glucosinolate content in seeds of two new yellow sarson cultivars (Brassica campestris L.) has been investigated and its variation as a function of different positions of siliques on the plants has been determined. The total glucosinolate content was dominated by but-3-enylglucosinolate (ca. 90%). Significant silique position effects were found. Higher glucosinolate concentrations were found in seeds from siliques at the top of the branch than in those from the basal part of the branch. The highest glucosinolate concentration was found in seeds from top siliques of the lowest branch. The knowledge of the effect of silique position on glucosinolate content in the seeds in relation to oilseed rape plant breeding are discussed. Keywords
