Abstract
The development and design of a solar-driven refrigeration system based on a solid-absorption (CaCl2/NH3) cycle is described. Performance data are reported from both indoor and outdoor testing of a prototype refrigerator/ice-pack freezer for storage of vaccines. Further applications at the village level in developing countries of this extremely simple and very reliable system are outlined. Keywords
