Abstract
It has recently been reported by W. Kintsch (see 43:2) that members of a low-structure list were recognized as well as those of a high-structure list even though they were not recalled as often. In an experiment with 120 undergraduates it was demonstrated that: (a) this result cannot be attributed to the use of an easier recognition test in assessing the retention of the low-structure list, and (b) it also holds when Ss' response criteria are fixed.
