Dogs were anesthetized with ether, barbital, or a combination of the 2; a thermocouple was implanted in muscle tissue and temp. readings were taken at short intervals; a ligature was passed around the hepatic artery and Eortal vein; and adrenalin was injected intravenously efore and after ligation. There was a fall in muscle temp. during each experiment, which changed temporarily after adrenalin injection to a rise of 0.07-0.37[degree]C. (mode 0.1-0.2[degree]C.) within 4-13 min. After ligation of the liver vessels the temp. fell much more rapidly. Adrenalin caused only infrequent and small transitory rises (in 2 cases of 0.02, in 1 of 0.01[degree]C); in all otner cases the temp. fell. Pressor reaction of adrenalin was not materially decreased after ligation of liver vessels.
