Abstract
Times of relaxation are calculated for radial and circular motion in an “ isothermal gas sphere.” The times of relaxation increase outwards with the radius. A model is developed in which relaxation is complete only up to a limited distance from the centre. Calculations with this model give projected densities which agree much better with observation than do those from the simple isothermal case.Keywords
