Abstract
Twenty-eight patients highly responsive to topically administered corticosteroids were subjected to various corticosteroid preparations keeping frequency and duration of administration constant. Topical administration of dexamethasone demonstrated a dose-response relationship for concentrations of 0.1%, 0.005%, and 0.001%. One half of the patients showed greater than 5 mm Hg elevations of intraocular pressure after two to six weeks of therapy with the 20 times dilution (0.005%) of dexamethasone. Dexamethasone 0.001%, hydrocortisone 0.5%, and tetrahydrotriamcinolone 0.25% produced less ocular hypertension. Medrysone 1.0% had the smallest effect on intraocular pressure. Keywords
